I don’t have any questions at this time but since you have this blog why don’t you use it to provide proactive information as well as a source for questions and answers? I guess that is a question (smile).

@John Matthews: Not sure I understand the comment. It looks like they are posting multiple blog posts a week that “provide proactive information.” This is just one piece of it. What don’t you like?

I am a disabled veteran working for the postal service and for the past 11 months my rights have been violated to the utmost, Is there anyone in your organization who can help.

I feel that the NAACP is so out of touch with the most important issues impacting the African American community.Particularly, the black unemployment gap between blacks and non-blacks. Why arent we hearing anything from the NAACP about this?

Jonathan–the New York Times ran a story last week describing what the NAACP is doing on precisely this issue*: http://www.nytimes.com/2009/11/17/us/17labor.html

Stef-thanks for the information, its good to see that the NAACP is addressing this. However, I hope the NAACP is heightening awareness around employment discrimination with regard to hiring and retention, especially discrimination towards African Americans. Racial discrimination is back with a vengance in the employment market, and Blacks without question are the biggest victims. Amongs college graduates, we are seeing twice the rate of unemployment for Blacks(especially black men) when compared to whites and hispanics. Some stats:
Unemployment Rate For College Graduates:
Black Men ages 25-44: 8.3%
White Men ages 25-44: 3.9%
Hispanic Men ages 25-44: 4.8%
Unemployment Rates For High School Graduates:
Black Men ages 25-44: 17%
White Men ages 25-44: 8.9%
Hispanic Men ages 25-44: 9.9%
This data comes from the bureau of labor statistics and you can find it on the link below, which also appears in the NY Times.

Even more alarming is the fact that Hispanics are doing better than African Americans in every single catagory. Blacks are disproportionatly suffering. Everyone is benefiting from Affirmative Action except for Blacks. Clearly education is not the issue.

With the large numbers of African Americans in jails and prison. Does the NAACP have a Prison Rights Sub-committee?
